What is a wedding officant?  This is a person who is authorized to perform ("officiate") weddings under Illinois law.  Wedding ceremonies can be civil or religious.  A civil officiant might be a judge, justice-of-the-Peace (JP), or (in some jurisdictions), a notary.  A religious officiant is a member of a Church or other religious organization.  A religious wedding officiant also might be known as a minister, pastor, celebrant, priest, reverend, or "Father."   Jeffrey R.
